Come back and teach

After participating in BAE Systems FOCUS, I returned as a mentor for an eleven-week engineering program. I now mentor high-school FRC teams.

How I approach it

I use questions to help students work through a problem themselves. Teaching CAD and machining also makes me explain choices that I might otherwise make automatically.

Beyond the shop

I've also coached tennis and pickleball. The setting changes, but I still need to find an explanation that makes sense to the person in front of me.

Sharing the methods that helped me become a more independent builder.
